Glenn Kotche with eighth blackbird and Lesley Flanigan

Chicago's beautiful Millennium Park is host to some fantastic performances throughout the summer. I was happy to photograph their "Loops and Variations" summer series finale a few weeks back, featuring eighth blackbird, Glenn Kotche and Lesley Flanigan. Those present for the show got a fair dose of experimental, avant-garde music. The highlight for me was seeing Glenn Kotche (best known as the drummer of my favorite band, Wilco) premiere some of his individual work. Enjoy the photos!

Bone Thugs-n-Harmony

My Cleveland boys, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony put on an incredible show at the Double Door a few weeks ago. Over twenty years since they first started recording songs together, they still sound great. Thanks for making Cleveland proud, Bone. Old school hip hop anthems for days. For more of my photos, head over to Do312 here.

Janelle Monáe

Happy Janelle Monáe Day! Her new album, The Electric Lady, released today so I figured this was a perfect opportunity to post some recent photos of her. A couple weeks ago, she had a private album preview party at Society and I was one of the lucky people in attendance! Aside from playing some of her new songs, she also had a dance party with everyone in the audience. Her energy and spirit are contagious and I encourage everyone to go out and grab The Electric Lady today. I'm going to go ahead and say that it is easily one of the best albums of the year - it's actually the best in my opinion so far. I began my summer watching Ms. Monáe put on a stunning performance with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and I ended it with her at the preview party. Not too shabby. Cheers to The Electric Lady and her endlessly empowering and masterful albums!

Lollapalooza: The Aftershows

While I did not attend Lollapalooza for the first time in many years, I did happen to shoot a few of their aftershows around town. From the crazy pre-party at Berlin featuring Supreme Cuts and Ethan Kath of Crystal Castles to DJ Mom Jeans and the Smith Westerns at Rockit to closing night at Lincoln Hall featuring Alt-J (pictured above), it was certainly an entertaining weekend. For more of my photos, you can click here or here.

Berlin is home to an array of live art and entertainment acts. Here are just a couple of the many performers throughout the night...
