Juana Molina

Argentine sensation, Juana Molina, wowed the crowd at the Old Town School of Folk Music a couple weeks ago with her experimental, ambient electronica. Molina, who left her career as an accomplished comedic actress to pursue music instead, has had tremendous success internationally (and has developed quite a cult following here in the U.S.). For a fantastic review of the show and to see more of my photos, head over to The Vinyl District. And speaking of The Vinyl District, I'm happy to announce that I'm now a contributing photographer (and occasional writer) for them!

Mac DeMarco and Juan Wauters

Mac DeMarco played two sold out shows at The Empty Bottle a couple weeks ago and I was very happy to be there to shoot the first one. I've been a fan of Mac for a few years now and his recently released "Salad Days" is easily as good as (if not better than) his critically acclaimed 2012 album, "2." His ever-growing catalog seems to only improve with each release and he's only 23. Pitchfork's Marc Hogan described one of Mac's songs as "a laid-back guitar-pop daydream, as wobbly and welcoming as a backyard hammock," and I've since adopted that as a way of describing his sound in general. Ya dig? Juan Wauters opened the show with a very modern day Beatnik/poetry slam vibe. For more photos, head over to Do312

People began filing in to catch Juan Wauters.

By the time Mac hit the stage, it was packed.

How To Dress Well and Forest Swords

A year ago I was at Schubas to photograph Sky Ferreira when Chicago boy Tom Krell (better known as How To Dress Well) stepped on stage for an opening set that basically left the entire audience breathless. I walked out of the show an instant super fan. So when it was announced that he'd be headlining Lincoln Hall with support from another excellent up-and-coming band, Forest Swords, I jumped on the opportunity to photograph it. Neither disappointed. Take a minute to give both bands a listen. For more of my photos, click here for BV Chicago's post and here for Lincoln Hall post.
